Life with kids in St George
Shopfront is a contemporary arts centre - a cultural network and production co-operative where all young people under 25, regardless of background or ability can create themselves.
From the beginner to the more experienced, all young people are welcome!
The focus of the workshops is developing skills in multi-media theatre and devising original work as a company. This draws together a wide range of art-forms including performance, video, writing, lighting, visual art and set design.
Shopfront works with professional artists who are all experienced tutors. Their role is to facilitate the ideas of the participants, to motivate and stretch the creative possibilities but importantly honour the creativity of young people.
The workshops are set in 3 age brackets: 8-12yrs, 12-15yrs and 15-25yrs. Shopfront runs 4 terms of workshops across the year. Each term consists of 8 weekly sessions which are either 2 or 3 hours in duration. At the end of each term the participants create a new work to share with friends and family. In addition to the workshop program there are other events and opportunities across the year.
